What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession with a science foundation that involves working with people to promote their own health and well being. Physiotherapy uses physical approaches to restore movement and function to as near normal as possible, when someone is affected by injury, pain or dysfunction (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy 2002).
By law, only those people, who are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), can call themselves ‘Physiotherapists’. This is to protect the public and ensure that high standards of care are maintained.
